19 year old Irish track star, Josie Knight is the latest rider to join Team WNT in 2017

21/10/2016

With a Junior European Individual Pursuit Silver medal to her name, as well as becoming the senior Irish National Omnium Champion in 2016, Team WNT are delighted that Josie Knight, who hails from Dingle (Co. Kerry), will be our second Irish recruit after we recently announced the re-signing of Lydia Boylan.

With Knight previously having her sights set with the Irish Elite Track Programme for the Team Pursuit, finishing 9th at the World Track Championships in London earlier this year, Josie now turns her focus to the road where she’ll play a key part in our sprint lead outs with her strong pursuiting and time trialling background.

‘I’m over the moon to have signed with Team WNT for 2017, I’ve always had my focus on the track but now I’m relishing the opportunity to race on the road with Team WNT, it was an easy decision to make as their set up is second to none, and I’ve always loved road racing. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn and gain experience from the more established road riders on the team‘ says Josie.

Taking a break from her studies to fulfill her dreams of being a professional cyclist, Team Manager and UK Managing Director of WNT UK, Tony Pennington says ‘I welcome Josie to the team, she is a huge talent, with a silver medal at the Junior European Track Championships, and whilst still a junior was part of the senior womens team pursuit squad for Ireland. I’m looking forward to watching her develop as a rider and I believe she will play a key role to our success‘
