Multiple National, European and Junior World Champion Emily Kay bolsters Team WNT’s roster for 2017, verifying their determination to step up to the mark after applying for a UCI licence in 2017.

Kay, who’s now a part of the British Cycling Olympic Podium Programme at 21 years of age, boasts results such as U23 European Team Pursuit Champion, Junior World Team Pursuit Champion, and recently just won silver and bronze medals in the Elite European Track Championships.

‘I am delighted to join Team WNT, their set up and commitment to women’s cycling is fantastic. I’ve watched the team grow over the past two years in the UK and now I’m thrilled to be a part of the team, especially as they make their step up to UCI level. It’ll be great to work with a great bunch of riders and staff. Throughout the winter I’ll be racing in the Track World Cups with the GB track team but Team WNT have been very supportive in helping me manage both my track and road ambitions’ say’s Emily.

Despite Kay’s impressive track results, she’s also ridden some of the world’s most high profile and prestigious events such as The Women’s Tour, Tour de Yorkshire, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Dwars door Vlanderen. After having a taste for the Classic’s in 2016, Kay would love to use her experience to improve her personal goals and help the team in these races next season, although predominantly a sprinter, Emily says her strengths are as a lead out rider who is very tactically aware being able to read a race, roles which Emily will play an integral part in for Team WNT.

Kay describes herself as a lion because of how competitive she becomes when she believes strongly in something. Fighting spirit is one of the core values of WNT and Emily certainly has plenty.

Managing Director, WNT UK Tony Pennington says ‘I am delighted to welcome Emily to the team. She is a strong character and I believe with her experience, especially from her team pursuit track background Emily can be a great member of our team.’
