23-year old German rider from the Black Forrest, Clara Koppenburg will join WNT-ROTOR Pro Cycling for 2019.
“I am super excited to be joining the team. I know a lot of the girls, some are really good friends, and I worked with Dirk 2-years ago when he was the director sportif at Cervelo-Bigla, so I am familiar with how he operates.”
The 2017 world team time trial bronze medallist added, “I am an all rounder, but my favourite and strongest assets are my time trailing and climbing abilities. I have been more of a domestique rider during my career, because I started cycling when I was 17, but I love to help my team mates however in the last couple of years I have learnt how to create the race and been able to find my limits. I am excited for something new, after 4-years, because I only know the structure of that team and I’m looking forward to experiencing something new with a great group of girls.”
Koppenburg who will be representing Germany in a less than two weeks in the world road race championships has a degree in Sports Science. With a strong focus on stage races throughout 2019, Clara has a desire to improve on her time trialling abilities for the long term with an aim to go to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
“I am extremely grateful for my former team and their partners, I learnt everything I know there and Thomas Campana made me from a no-name amateur into a professional cyclist, whilst I am excited for the next stage of my career, I am thankful.”
Managing Director of Cutting Tools Europe, Claude Sun said “I am delighted to welcome Clara to the team for next year. Clara will be an integral part in our stage racing squad next year, a rider who is strong and enthusiastic as well as a team player with fighting spirit.”

WNT – Cutting Tool supplier with connection to the cycling industry
WNT is CERATIZIT Group’s competence brand for mass distribution and regional sales, offering high quality cutting tools and a unique service to small and medium-sized enterprises. The Ceratizit Group is a privately owned company, based in Mamer, Luxembourg, which develops and manufactures highly specialised carbide cutting tools, inserts and rods made of hard materials as well as wear parts. With over 9,000 employees at 34 production sites and a sales network of over 70 branch offices, the Group is a global player in the carbide industry.
Cycling has a close connection to WNT products. Many bicycle components are manufactured using metalcutting technology. Important customers, such as the British firm Hope Technology or the Spanish company Rotor Bike Components, use WNT's quality tools to produce their high-quality bicycle parts. Therefore cycling sponsorship is an ideal marketing tool for WNT to increase brand awareness and make products more accessible to the general public outside of the narrow target groups. Despite this, cycling embodies exactly this same spirit, which is already present within the company and its values.
